Success does not always mean winning. Success is measured in how we have improved the lives of the people we choose to serve. Litigation successes are always well-received, but even in loss we can change the system.

In 2012 and 2013, IDDEF’s support of the litigation in K.W. et al. v. Armstrong preserved and enhanced the right to take meaningful appeals from individual service budget reductions in the adult DD program. The advice and legal representation we provided to hundreds of participants allowd them to maintain the services and supports critical to maintaining independence and quality of life. Even where the appeals were not wholly successful, creative use of the legal tools available preserved budgets and services.

In 2014, the judge in K.W. et al. v. Armstrong issued a prelimjinary injunction entirely preventing the State of Idaho from reducing individual service budgets.
